Ibrox Legend Hails ‘Remarkable’ Celtic – Gers Fans Won’t Be Happy

IBROX LEGEND Mark Hately has praised this relentless Celtic side for capturing a treble treble when his own side faltered at making it a double treble back in 1994.

Celtic were on their knees and nearly shut their doors when the Ibrox club were being propped up by money they never really had and in doing so bought some heavy hitters which won nine-in-a-row.

Hately is in the unique position where he understands what some of the Celtic players will be feeling as they get closer to the coveted ten and the pressure which comes along with that.

The former Ibrox club could only match the feat set by the Lisbon Lions all those years ago and get nine titles. It would be Wim Jansen and Henrik Larsson who would be big factors in Celtic stopping the ten.

Speaking about nine-in-a-row being broken, Hateley believed it was always going to be on the table at some point and this Celtic side will be tested in the next two years as they chase that history.

“I’ve never thought nine in a row wouldn’t be beaten. Records are always there to be broken.” he told RecordSport.

“If you put your mind to it and have belief, anything can be done. Celtic have had that mindset – it’s a remarkable achievement what they’ve done.

“As part of a nine-in-a-row group I know what it takes out of a group, the constant drive and ambition required every time you play. But it’s difficult. We missed out on the double Treble in 1994 to Dundee United so I understand the demands on players and the importance of freshness throughout.

“It can come to an abrupt end so to keep going is an unbelievable achievement. The nine is the one. They will be trying to emulate the great teams who have done it before.”
