The Sun tried to float an ‘exclusive’ on Wednesday evening claiming The Rangers were set to offer Celtic their 700 briefs back after being ‘locked out’ of the last Glasgow derby.
As far as we’re concerned, it wasn’t a case of Celtic fans being locked out but rather a conscious decision by Celtic not to accept their allocated tickets due to valid safety concerns. This decision was underscored by past incidents where fans have suffered injuries, including a case where a supporter needed stitches after being hit by a glass bottle thrown from the upper tier.
In March, Celtsarehere received information from a reliable source connected to the club, stating that they had raised safety concerns with the Ibrox club. They also attempted to negotiate a more favourable arrangement that would have allowed for a larger number of supporters. However, the Ibrox club rejected these proposals, leading Celtic to decide against accepting their allocated tickets. Subsequently, the Ibrox club informed Celtic that they would also be declining their allocation of tickets.

So there’s no new offer, there is just the status quo, and The Sun has made it into something that it’s not.
It’s regrettable that the issue of allocation has led us to this point. The absence of away fans in the stadium creates an uncanny atmosphere. The situation calls for either a reinstatement of a larger allocation for away fans or a thorough addressing of safety concerns. Currently, Celtic fans, confined to a small corner of Ibrox, are left vulnerable, a situation I can attest to as unpleasant from past experiences.
