Ibrox Club Attempt to Disrupt SPFL Post-Split Fixtures; Celtic Ramifications

And so it begins.

The Rangers are attempting to disrupt the SPFL season for their own benefit by putting pressure on the SPFL to move fixtures for them in anticipation of their Europa League tie against Leipzig.

They have done well and Europe and when that happens, fixtures come at you thick and fast – it’s a good problem to have. However, we’re now seeing the same kind of nonsense we witnessed back in 2008 when the season was extended and Celtic won the title on the final day of the season on a THURSDAY evening.

The club that was telling everyone to get on with it during the last lockdown and voted against postponing games are now all for it.

If the SPFL do try to facilitate the Ibrox club, it would most certainly have a knock on effect for Celtic.

There are five league games left this season. One of them is a Glasgow Derby. Any attempt to get this game moved or extend the season should not be entertained.

Celtic have done very well to get to this point – we can see the path in front of us – to postpone any of our fixtures would not be welcome at all. The Ibrox club have a big enough squad to deal with two extra games in between times.
