Brendan Rodgers has spoken about his comedic moment against Aberdeen at Hampden this evening, where the Irishman fell over while attempting to kick the ball onto the pitch.
Rodgers revealed that emotions got the better of him and that he believes referee Kevin Clancy’s decision to book him was the right one.
He said: (Premier Sports), “To be fair, I was raging because we had given the ball away.
“I have my moments, like every manager. It was just the game, even though we were comfortable at 3-0.
“It was a deserved yellow card. The speed of the ball [was the issue]. I just wanted to keep the tempo of the game.”
The Irishman’s slip will go down as one of the funniest moments of the season, but at the same time, it highlights the high standards he expects from his players.
Despite leading 3-0 at half-time, the Hoops players’ wastefulness on the ball in the first half frustrated Rodgers to a level not seen publicly.

Celtic played some of their very best football against the second-best team in the country with a 6-0 win against a side that hadn’t lost since the beginning of the season.
This shows just how well Rodgers has this Celtic side playing and reflects their ambitions of moving up a gear.
