Former Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng has spoken about his time with Celtic and how Neil Lennon played a pivotal role in his development within British football.

The South Korean spent three years at Celtic before heading off to Swansea in a £6million deal.

The midfielder admits he struggled when he first got to Celtic but came to understand Lennon, even if he was a wee bit angry sometimes.

“I had a very good relationship with him and to be fair I struggled a little bit when he first became manager of Celtic.” admitted Ki.

“After that I learnt a lot about British football. It was a very good experience for myself and also with Neil Lennon.

“When I was a player he was a little bit angry and aggressive but he was a really good coach and he was a hero at Celtic. I miss him sometimes.”

Neil is now enjoying a successful spell as Hibernian boss where he has guided the Edinburgh side back to the top flight of Scottish football and is aiming for a top three finish.

Ki is in the last six months of his contract with Swansea and it’s unclear if he will sign a new deal with the Welsh outfit.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move back to Celtic in January – is he on Brendan Rodgers radar we wonder?

The midfielder admitted he still follows the club.

“Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the UK. I really enjoyed my time at the club and still follow the team.”
