‘I Said They Would Get a Doing’ – Pundit Rubs Salt into Ibrox Wounds

SIMON JORDAN has stated that he believes Ange Postecoglou is a ‘stronger manager’ compared to Giovanni van Bronckhorst, claiming the Ibrox boss still has a lot to prove after Saturday’s doing at Parkhead.

The TalkSport pundit’s correction was correct. Last week, Jordan stated that the Rangers would get a ‘hiding’ from Celtic, who are domestically in a better place than their rivals.

Saturday’s 4-0 victory demonstrated the gulf in quality between the two sides as Postecoglou’s side moved five points clear at the top of the league table.

Speaking on Monday’s edition of TalkSport, quoted by the Daily Record, the former Crystal Palace owner said;

“There’s a lot for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to prove. He’s done very well in Europe but not so well domestically. They did exactly to them as they did to them in a previous game at Parkhead except they added an extra goal to it and kept going in the second half.

“ Celtic are just in a slightly different place at this moment in time. They’ve got a stronger manager and domestically Rangers are short. There is a difference. You get better opportunities in European football to do certain things. I said they would get a doing. I didn’t say it would be nip and tuck. I said they would get a doing and a doing is what they got.”

Celtic’s real test will be in the Champions League. At the top European level, they will get a clearer idea of the standard of team they are. Playing against the European champions first as they try to cause an upset, Celtic will then play Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig, who they will look to take maximum points from; however, it will be a tough challenge for Ange and his players.
