‘I have agreed a deal with Celtic’s lawyer’ Posh Chairman Reveals – Neil Lennon Gets His Man

We reported earlier today Celtic had made a move for Gavin Strachan to bring him in as Damien Duff’s replacement. Gavin is the son of former three in a row winning Celtic boss, Gordon Strachan and has been the assistant manager of Peterborough in recent times.

Tonight, Posh chairman, Barry Fry has told the media that he and Celtic’s lawyers have concluded a deal and Gavin will become a Celtic coach on Monday, joining Neil Lennon’s backroom staff.

“I have agreed a deal with Celtic’s lawyer and Gavin has also agreed a deal with the club.” Fry told Peterborough Today.

“We don’t want to lose him, but we cannot stand in the way of such a big job. The deal should be completed on Monday.

“Darren has identified replacements, but they are all currently in work and we will probably wait until we know when the new season will start before making a move.”

This has happened very fast and has come out of left field since many supporters figured Stephen McManus could get the not to come up from youth development.

Strachan has big boots to fill. Damien Duff was a well-liked coach in the dressing room and contributed greatly to Celtic’s success over the past 15 months.

That will be a big appointment ticked off the list for Neil Lennon and he’ll be able to get on with player recruitment from here on in.
