“I Don’t Think I Got This Far in My Dreams” – Luke McCowan Living the Celtic Dream

Luke McCowan admits he is still pinching himself after lifting his first trophy as a Celtic player — a moment made all the sweeter by his lifelong support for the club.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Hoops from Dundee in the summer, has been a solid addition to Brendan Rodgers’ squad during the second half of the campaign. And while he was cup-tied for the League Cup success earlier in the season, Saturday’s title triumph marks his first silverware in Celtic colours.

After the 5-0 demolition of Dundee United at Tannadice sealed the club’s fourth successive league title, McCowan opened up on the emotional significance of the day.

“It’s a bit surreal if I’m honest,” McCowan said after the full-time celebrations to Celtic TV. “I don’t really know what to do with myself, I’ve never been here before. But nah, it’s just credit to hard work and all the boys for a full season. And for me to come in and be a part of this is absolutely… I don’t think I got this far in my dreams, to be honest.”

The midfielder’s connection to Celtic runs deep, having grown up supporting the club. Remarkably, McCowan was among the travelling support at Tannadice two years ago when Ange Postecoglou’s side secured the title at the same ground with a draw.

“2022 I was actually in that stand celebrating as well,” he recalled. “So it’s nice to come full circle and be here. And it’s nice to win it on this ex-rivals pitch.”

McCowan now looks forward to being part of the Hoops’ push for a treble, with the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen on the horizon.

The treble could be Brendan Rodgers’ third as Celtic manager, and his 11th trophy with the side. Only Jock Stein and Willy Maley have won more in the Celtic dugout.
