‘I Don’t Care’ – Ange Postecoglou Outstanding Response to Ibrox Coach

Bhoys’ boss, Ange Postecoglou, has shrugged off comments made by The Rangers coach Neil Banfield, saying he doesn’t care about what he says.

Postecoglou dismissed Banfield’s recent interview, where he said The Rangers were “coming” for their rivals. Banfield also claimed that Postecoglou had previously made comments that left a “taste in the mouth” and that a quote from the Aussie had “landed” on him after the Viaplay Cup Final in February.

However, Postecoglou said he was not concerned with Banfield’s remarks and that it was his prerogative not to worry about what other managers say. Celtic fans can be assured that Postecoglou is focused on the upcoming Hampden Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers, and won’t be distracted by any comments from the opposition.

“Nothing. I’m not really sure what he’s referring to. It was mentioned to me that he was upset about something. Ange told RecordSport. I’ve said it a million times, every manager and every representative of every football club has the platform to use it the way they like to. It’s my prerogative not to worry about what they say. Look, if I was going to worry about what people say I wouldn’t have lasted a month here.

“They hardly rolled out the red carpet for me and I managed to survive that. There’s not much anyone else can say that’s going to make me worry or think about it too much.

“I know what’s important and what we are trying to do is make our work speak for itself. That’s what we’ll continue to do.”

Ange was asked if he was annoyed Banfield didn’t bother saying what it was that upset him. The Celtic manager replied: “No because I don’t care. It doesn’t bother me. If something has upset him, it’s upset him. He can explain it. It’s got nothing to do with me. Like I said, we all have the opportunity to use the platform we have to speak to the broader audience and how you use that platform is up to each individual.”

Ange has always been above the kind of tit for tat nonsense other clubs try to participate in while the media try to stoke the flames. The manager doesn’t create headlines despite being targeted by Beale and his assistant in recent months.

Celtic have one focus and it’s the semi-final on Sunday. All the other noise just doesn’t matter.
