Former Celtic winger Jota surprisingly departed the club in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese attacker made the big-money move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
In the Middle East so far, though, things haven’t worked out for the 24-year-old. He has scored one goal in eleven appearances for his new team to date.
Jota’s misfortunes in Saudi have led many a Celtic fan to mention a potential return to the club for the player. Former Hoops striker John Hartson recently spoke about such a potential transpiration. He said (Go Radio via Glasgow Times): “Personally, I can’t see it happening but if there’s a deal there and the clubs get together and Jota wants to come back and the club wants him to come back. He’s gone to Saudi, he’s not enjoying it and he’s not playing regularly. I can’t see it happening, but I think that will be one that would excite the fans.”

It is certain that all Celtic supporters would welcome the flamboyant winger back to Parkhead with open arms. Few fans begrudged Jota the opportunity to head to the Middle East and ply his trade for big money.
In hindsight, though, it was the wrong move. The former Benfica man is now at somewhat of a career crossroads.
