‘I Can’t Believe That’ – English Pundit Puts Celtic Way Ahead of Newcastle

There’s an inevitability about a lot of players leaving the club this summer.

One major exit that is likely on the cards is Kristoffer Ajer. Like Odsonne Edouard, the Norweigan is entering the final year of his Celtic deal and shows no signs of a signing an extension.

The club will look to cash in on the big defender before he is able to leave on a free.

The rumours going around over the weekend put Ajer in contention for a move to struggling EPL side Newcastle.

Reports believe the English club are trying to grab the centre-back on the cheap and low ball the Hoops.

Former Englan international and Tottenham goalkeeper, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider Ajer would be crazy to make a move to the bottom half side and there’s more prestige playing for Celtic than Newcastle.

“If you are playing for Celtic or Rangers you are playing at the top level,”

“You are playing in Europe most weeks.

“Unless he moved to a top-half Premier League side I do not see where the manager would want him to go. He is certainly not going to go and play in the Norwegian league is he! It is an interesting time to be at Celtic.

“Yes, they have had a terrible season but a new manager is on the horizon. He will be given funds and it will be a big season next year to try and turn things around.

“International managers have opinions but I never had one of mine tell me which club I should play for. I cant’ believe that.

“I think we have seen that it does not matter what club you play for, if you play well, you get called up.”

Celtic are going to be going through perhaps the biggest transformation in the club’s modern day history. A new chief exec, a new director of football and a massive turnover of on the field personnel.

If Celtic could cut a deal with Kris to stay one more year, much like they did with Stuart Armstong, then they should explore that avenue.

If he is to go at the end of this season, you’re hoping it’s to a club with deep pockets and a side who can help him progress.
