FORMER CELTIC Hero Kris Commons has used his column to discuss potentially retiring but not being able to face the reality of it all.
The midfielder who led Celtic’s scoring charts not so long ago was released by the club in the summer and many thought he would go join former gaffer Neil Lennon at Hibs.
However, due to injury problems and operations, the player has only been seen as a pundit this term.
Writing about his situation in his column, Kris seems conflicted about hanging up his boots.
‘I don’t know what’s stopping me from saying my football career is over. Probably just the weight of having to accept it and say: ‘That is it. Done.’
‘When I first had my back operation, I wanted to get back to playing. Everyone tells you to keep playing as long as possible. But I had a brilliant conversation recently with Ian Wright, who said he wished he’d quit a couple of years earlier.’
Kris still holds hope of returning to the pitch professionally but nothing is guaranteed at the age of 34.
