‘I can have a future at Celtic’ – On Loan Celt Hasn’t Given Up

CELTIC defender Jack Hendry has spoken about his future at the club beyond his Melbourne City loan deal which will come to an end in May.

Many feel the loan deal to Australia is the beginning of the end for the centre-back’s Celtic career but Jack Hendry doesn’t see it that way at all.

Speaking to RecordSport Hendry admits he turned down clubs in England and Scotland before going down under: “I had other offers in England and Scotland but when I heard about Melbourne City it sounded perfect, especially with it being part of the City Group as well that was another big appeal.”

Hendry was very positive about his chances at Celtic come the summer if he performs well for Melbourne City:

“I still feel I can have a future at Celtic.

“I love playing for Celtic and they are a massive club.

“I still have a couple of years left on my contract there and I feel I can still become a first-team regular at Celtic but for just now I just need to go out get games and to get back playing the way I know I can – to the level that convinced Celtic to go out and buy me from Dundee in the first place.”

It was Brendan Rodgers who signed the Scottish defender two years ago and his time at the club has been frustrating from Jack’s point of view. He’s never properly made the breakthrough and didn’t give Neil Lennon enough food for thought when it came to team selection.

We wish him all the best but there’s only one man who knows if Hendry has a future at the club and that’s Neil Lennon.
