‘I am happy here and I want to stay’ – Celtic Star Reveals He Wants New Parkhead Deal

Money is tight in all walks of life at the moment. In the football world, talk of big money transfers and new deals for key players have taken a back burner as delayed and deferred wages are the topic of the day.

Contracts between clubs and players are going to be under more scrutiny than ever before and as clubs look to recalibrate there will likely be collateral damage.

Players whose contracts will be up this summer in next are living in uncertain times.

Their immediate future is up for debate and there’s so much conflicting information at the moment – it’s hard to know what will happen next.

Jozo Simunovic has just over a year to run on his Celtic deal. The Croatian on the home straight of his five-year deal.

Jozo has his fans and critics but with the clock running down on his contract, there’s no telling if the player will be here for next season, whenever that might be!

If it’s up to Jozo, he would stay in Glasgow and sign a new deal.

“I’ve had some great times in my football career and many of the best have been at Celtic.” Jozo told SunSport.

“I will remember them for all of my life.

“There was the Invincible season — the second time I did that at a club.

“I was at Dinamo Zagreb when they made it ten in a row — so there is a good chance to do that with Celtic as well.

“The feeling was amazing when we won our first Treble. Then the second came, and a third, and we were on our way this season again.

“There have been so many great times I’ve had here and I want to continue. We need to see the situation with my contract as well. I am happy here and I want to stay, so we will see.”

The defender has made 126 appearances for the club to date.
