“I admire him, I’ve always liked him” – Lennon Bigs Up The Weekends Opposition

It is fair to say Neil Lennon is in a generous mood towards his fellow SPFL managers. Probably an easy enough mission when you are sitting pretty at the top of the league table with a nice ten-point cushion.

As we reported earlier on, Neil Lennon threw some empathy the way of Steven Gerrard and now is the turn of Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes as reported in The Scotsman.

“His mentality is strong and with Doc there they are a good partnership. They do good things for the game. He had a great win the other night. He’s got that longevity that in the modern game a lot of managers don’t get.”

“I admire him. I’ve always liked him. He’s a good football man and he’s turned Aberdeen around.”

Lennon may have a point about the scrutiny managers are under these days, he has had his fans question his abilities as soon as a result doesn’t go his way. There will be no love lost between Celtic fans and McInness from his time as the Dons manager but all the clashes are probably a natural occurrence with your nearest challengers.

Aberdeen, like every other Scottish team, has had to sit by and watch as the Hoops have completely dominated domestically for the past decade. Long may it continue.
