Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers pulled up injured in his side’s 3-0 Boxing Day win at Dens Park. The American had to be withdrawn moments after Paulo Bernardo opened the scoring.
Stephen Welsh replaced Carter-Vickers at the heart of the defence and contributed towards an eventual clean sheet.
Although Carter-Vickers’ injury initially didn’t seem too serious, his facial expressions soon changed people’s minds. His face was as glum as a rainy day when he was being brought off the pitch by the medical staff.

The player looked deflated and as if he knew it was bad, which is a huge concern going into the Glasgow derby that is just four days away. Brendan Rodgers will want the 25-year-old fit for the Parkhead showdown however it remains to be seen if he will be.
Carter-Vickers is crucial to the champions’ backline and having him unavailable for such a colossal match-up would be a monumental blow.
Rodgers doesn’t seem to fancy Gustaf Lagerbielke or Maik Nawrocki. Nat Phillips looks Liverpool-bound so one imagines things will continue where they left off from full-time today and it will be Welsh who begins the derby, if Carter-Vickers doesn’t make it, that is.
