With Santa finished delivering presents to all the lucky boys and girls around the world, CeltsAreHere looks back at when he paid a special to Celtic Park in May.
Santa Claus returned to Celtic Park in May with a hero’s welcome, delivering the Premiership trophy to the Hoops to cap off their successful league campaign. The festive figure’s reappearance was a cheeky nod to an infamous moment six months earlier, when he was booed by the Parkhead crowd during a frustrating halftime show.
Celtic fans have a long memory, but on this occasion, it worked to Santa’s advantage. In December, during a match against Hearts, Santa had the misfortune of being the halftime entertainment as Celtic trailed 2-0. The frustration of the fans spilled over, and the poor timing of his festive cameo made the jolly figure an unintended target of their ire.
Fast forward to May, and the mood couldn’t have been more different.
Celtic were celebrating their 54th Scottish Premiership title—and third consecutive league triumph—when Santa stepped onto the pitch, trophy in hand, to the sounds of Christmas music. This time, the fans erupted in cheers, fully embracing the moment as a light-hearted nod to a season of highs and lows.
The trophy day celebrations were the crowning moment of a dominant season for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Celtic clinched the title with two games to spare and ended their campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over St Mirren, finishing eight points clear of Rangers with an impressive 93 points from 38 matches.
Club captain Callum McGregor hoisted the trophy aloft, flanked by jubilant teammates and roaring fans. The day was filled with festivities as players took a lap of honour to thank the supporters who had backed them through every twist and turn of the season.
Merry Christmas from all at CeltsAreHere!
