Ajax are set to benefit from Nicolas Kuhn’s expected transfer to Como — but only modestly.

The Dutch giants will receive a €200,000 solidarity payment from the deal, with the German winger closing in on a €20 million (£17.2m) move to Serie A.
Kuhn, who joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna for around £3 million in January 2024, spent part of his formative years at Ajax. Under FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, clubs involved in a player’s development between the ages of 12 and 23 are entitled to a small percentage of future transfer fees. In this case, Ajax are due 1% of the reported fee. [FootballTransfers]
While that cut won’t significantly impact Celtic’s return, it’s a tidy bonus for Ajax. For Celtic, the deal still represents a remarkable piece of business, with the club set to pocket a profit in the region of £13 million on the winger in just over half a season.
Kuhn impressed in the first half of the campaign but saw his form dip in the latter stages. Nonetheless, his overall contributions, including 21 goals and 15 assists in 51 appearances, attracted interest from across Europe and prompted Como to make their move.
The winger is expected to complete a medical early next week before the transfer is finalised.
Fans are hoping that Celtic can reinvest the money and bring in some quality, first-team ready players.
