Tom Boyd has come under criticism for his commentary during Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Dunfermline on Saturday.
The CelticTV commentator was incensed when John Beaton didn’t give Celtic a penalty for a blatant handball during the cup tie. Highlights show it was a shocking decision by the official and TOM Boyd couldn’t believe it.
The Former Celtic defender suggested on commentary that Beaton would be ‘welcome’ down the pub tonight.
This a reference to an image which surfaced after John Beaton officiated a Glasgow Derby which appears to show him lapping up the adulation of the Ibrox support in a well known Gers pub.
After the image was shown, Beaton was subject to some vile texts and with Tom’s comment – Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has slammed Tam for his candour.

Keith can regularly become vocal on Celtic on social media if it’s to aim a dig.
The comment from Tam deflects from what was a shocking decision by the referee and something which could and did have an influence on the game.
