Hoops Chiefs Eye Permanent Defender Move

Celtic tied up a loan deal for Shane Duffy on Wednesday but the club already have ambitions to turn that deal into a permanent one next season it has emerged.

The club have paid a sizeable loan fee to get the international defender into the club but now they think if he is the hit they think he’s going to be, they’ll approach Brighton next summer to make sure he stays in Glasgow.

RecordSport writes: ‘Hoops chiefs are convinced the big defender will be a smash hit at Parkhead and will look to fund a permanent deal next summer.’

Duffy is a major Celtic fan, if he is part of the team who wins the ten then he will go down in Celtic folklore. The defender pushed through a loan deal when there was permanent and more lucrative deals to be made elsewhere.

There’s always the chance Shane just stays for the season and then goes on to make big money back in the Premier League. At 28, he’s on big money but will he want to make sure he’s financially secure next year, which would likely be his last big contract.

Right now, it’s all about this season and what we want to achieve.
