Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s almost official: Celtic are set to win their second title in two years, and the Celtic fans couldn’t be happier. It’s almost as if it was written in the stars, especially when you consider that two players who have already left the club, Josip Juranovic and Giakoumakis, are about to have more league winner’s medals than the Rangers captain, James Tavernier.
Both players left Celtic during the January window, but their playing time in the first half of the season makes them eligible for their second league title medal.
Now, before the Ibrox captain starts crying foul and moaning about how unfair life is, let’s take a moment to appreciate the sheer beauty of this situation. Two players who were only at Celtic for 18 months are about to have more titles to their name than the Rangers captain, who’s been in the top flight for seven long years. I mean, if that’s not a classic Celtic story, then what is?

It’s not like Tavernier didn’t have his chances, either. He’s been in the top flight long enough, watching as Celtic hoovered up title after title. Meanwhile, he’s been left to wonder what might have been, as his team continually failed to match the Bhoys’ success. And now, with just a handful of games left to play, it’s clear that Tavernier’s hopes of closing the gap are well and truly over.
Most of this Celtic side will be celebrating their second title win at least, apart from our summer recruits. They’ve come into Scotland got the job done straight away.
Of course, the real question now is where Celtic fans will get to celebrate their impending victory. There’s no doubt that Celtic Park would be the ideal location, but who knows.
Either way, it’s going to be a great time for the fans, who will get to bask in the glory of another title triumph. And as for Tavernier, well, I’m sure he’ll find some way to console himself. Perhaps he’ll spend the summer brushing up on bringing the real, real, real, real Rangers* next season.
Maybe Tav could deliver the medals to both Josip and Giak!
