High Drama as Celtic Discover Next Champions League Opponents

If Rosenborg got a scare last week losing 1-0 away to Valur, they came close to a heart attack tonight. In their first qualifying round, Rosenborg were ten minutes away from elimination.

An 85th minute away goal to the visitors would of paired Valur against Celtic next week. It took a 94th minute penalty from Nicklas Bendtner to ensure that it will be Rosenborg who will now face Celtic next.

Rosenborg who are halfway through their season should present as tougher opposition for the Celts, however, Celtic look to have hit the ground running with their opening and pre-season games.

If Valur found the net twice, it is hard not to imagine Celtic’s attacking power doing some damage next Wednesday. Celtic will be without Jozo Simunovic next week. The Celtic defender earned himself a red card within the first ten minutes after a clumsy high foot.
