Hibs Release Brilliant Celtic Park Statement

Hibernian have announced that they will receive an increased allocation of up to 7,000 tickets for the upcoming Scottish Cup Quarter-Final clash at Celtic Park on Sunday, 9th March.

Initially, Hibs were given a standard allocation of 2,667 tickets, which sold out in just five days. With such high demand from their supporters, Hibernian pushed for more tickets, and after ongoing discussions, they have now secured a larger allocation.

Hibs’ Persistence Pays Off

Throughout the ticket sales period, Hibernian remained in close dialogue with Celtic, requesting additional tickets to meet the overwhelming demand from their fans. Despite the initial allocation quickly selling out, Hibs continued to negotiate, and their persistence has now paid off. Celtic have agreed to increase the away allocation to up to 7,000 tickets, ensuring that more Hibs supporters will be able to attend the match.

The SFA Handbook and Financial Risk

The discussions around the increased allocation were informed by the SFA Handbook, which stipulates that the away club is responsible for payment to the home club for all tickets delivered to the away club for sale. Hibernian were aware of the financial risks involved in securing the larger allocation but were determined to accommodate their supporters, who had shown interest in attending the match.

By accepting the 7,000 ticket allocation, Hibernian have made a significant commitment, knowing the potential financial burden, but recognising the importance of satisfying their supporters’ demand for a place at Celtic Park.

Celtic’s Generosity and Support for the Fans

From a Celtic perspective, the decision to grant Hibernian the increased allocation shows a willingness to accommodate rival supporters, enhancing the matchday experience for everyone involved. Celtic fans are no strangers to passionate away days, and it is no surprise that the Hoops have agreed to allow Hibernian fans the chance to attend in such significant numbers.

This gesture is a positive one for the game and reflects Celtic’s commitment to creating a brilliant atmosphere for all fans, while ensuring that the demand for tickets is met appropriately.

With the Scottish Cup tie set to be a tough game for Celtic, the larger away allocation will undoubtedly add to the atmosphere at Celtic Park. As always, Celtic fans will be out in full force, but it will be interesting to see how the increased numbers of Hibs supporters affect the atmosphere.
