Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has made his stance clear on the potential exit of young defender Stephen Welsh insisting that he isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
In recent weeks the 21-year old has been linked with a move away from Parkhead, after interest from Serie A side Udinese, with the Italian club, reportedly making two moves for the Scotland under-21 internationalist.
However, the club turned down both offers and speaking to the media via Celtic TV this afternoon, Postecoglou made his feelings on the defender’s future with the club clear.
“Welshy is doing well; he is contracted here (until 2025), he is one of our players, and he has got a hell of a lot of development still to do. He’s gone really well so far, so he’s not going anywhere.”
It is great to hear that the club and Postecoglou don’t appear to have any interests in selling Welsh, who is a top talent and has shown his capabilities in the side this campaign alongside both Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter Vickers.
Over the past 18 months, Welsh has continued to develop in the first-team and is in the best hands under Postecoglou when it comes to improving as a young player.
