A year is a long time in football but just as sure as the more things change, the more they stay the same. Celtic fans will wander up to Celtic Park today to celebrate their treble-winning stars for the third time in a row as the flag is unfurled.
The man in charge has changed but the trophy count has not.
The Bhoys kick off their nine in a row campaign against St Johnstone at 3 pm and as the elusive ten gets nearer we are going to have a lot more squeaky bums than ever before.
Neil Lennon is the man who is tasked with getting us there and to fail would be unthinkable for the Lurgan man.
Celtic go into the new season with four new faces, more than that if you count Shved and even Morgan who has not been a permanent fixture around Lennoxtown until now.
It’s going to be an exciting campaign and we all would love to see a quadtreble but our wildest prediction of a treble treble has already come true, surely the bhoys can’t do it again. That will be the aim, but there will be a lot more Celtic fans happy with the SPFL title and a good run in Europe this term with anything else being gravy.
Celtic have been painted as underdogs for some reason as we go into the new campaign having won eight in a row and won the last nine domestic trophies in a row. Go figure.
I expect the title that will match Jock Stein’s Celtic achievement. How we get there will be irrelevant in the history books but let’s get there with style.
