‘He was still unhappy’ – Neil Lennon Reveals Christie Touchline Talk

NEIL LENNON admitted Ryan Christie wasn’t all too happy with being subbed off yesterday after his hat-trick heroics because the midfielder wanted four.

Christie scored the first hat-trick of his whole professional career on Saturday against St Johnstone with Neil Lennon revealing he kept the midfielder on so he could get his third.

This was after the Celtic manager substituted Christie against Kalju when he already had two goals.

Speaking to RecordSport the Celtic manager joked and called Ryan a ‘Greedy Get’.

“He’s unquestionably established himself now in this team. He was unhappy with me in Europe when I took him off after he got two goals. So I left him on for the hat-trick today then subbed him. He was still unhappy because he wanted four. He’s a greedy get!

“But he’s in a good place, he’s a great boy and so easy to work with. He just wants to impress and please people. I’ve inherited a great player there.”

Christie has had a sensational start to the season in Europe and now domestically. This time last year the midfielder couldn’t get into the side and looked destined for the Parkhead exit. Neil Lennon attempted to bring him into Hibernian before the end of the summer window last term.

What a difference a year makes, now Christie’s moaning he can’t stay on to get his fourth goal of the day.
