‘He Wanted To Come Back’ – Postecoglou Makes Surprising Midfielder Admission

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed that midfielder Oliver Ntcham wants to stay at the club.

After a failed loan spell with French side Marseille in the second half of last season, many expected that the 25-year old would secure his exit away from the Hoops this summer.

However, as reported by Sun Sport, the former Socceroos boss has stated that he and Ntcham have held talks, and the midfielder wanted to return and make his impression on the side once again.

“I had chats with him and he said he wanted to come back and make an impression this year.

“I take that at face value. He has been good at training.

“He is lacking a bit of match touch and fitness but he is part of the squad and hopefully he can make an impact this year.”

Just last month, some reports suggested that Ntcham was close to completing a move to the Greek League with AEK Athens.

He currently finds himself in pre-season training with the first team and played the second 45 minutes of yesterday’s friendly victory over Charlton.

Whilst some sections of the support have completely made their mind up about the Frenchman, if he has made it clear to Postecoglou he is willing to buy into what he wants to do here, then it is no surprise that the 55-year old wants to give him a chance.

Ntcham has the ability and has shown that in the past at the Hoops. Now, it’s about seeing whether Ange can get the best out of him regularly from here on going into the 2021/22 season.
