Celtic have been urged to consider a move for struggling Irish striker Evan Ferguson, with Ireland legend Shay Given insisting the youngster could rediscover his form in Glasgow. The 20-year-old burst onto the scene with Brighton in 2022 but has endured a tough couple of seasons since his breakthrough.
Once tipped as one of Europe’s brightest prospects, Ferguson’s career has stalled following a 33-game goal drought which he only ended last October.

Despite his early promise, the striker has slipped down the pecking order at Brighton and failed to reignite his form during a loan move to West Ham under former Seagulls boss Graham Potter.
Brendan Rodgers is known to be searching for extra firepower this summer, with Ferguson’s name emerging as a possible option. A move to the Hoops would see the Irishman compete directly with fellow countryman Adam Idah, who signed permanently last summer.
He said: (RecordSport), “Better not tell Adam that! Evan just needs to find a home, if I’m being honest. Be it here or somewhere else. He needs someone to say, ‘You’re my player.’
“He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. But then he didn’t play so much at West Ham either.
“I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he’s a top player, I really do.”

A move to Glasgow would offer Ferguson European football, regular first-team opportunities, and a chance to work under Rodgers, who has a proven track record of developing young players. For Celtic, the addition of another striker would add depth and competition up front ahead of a busy campaign both domestically and in Europe.
Ferguson’s natural ability remains highly rated despite his recent struggles, and a move away from the pressures of the Premier League could offer him the breathing space he needs to rediscover his scoring touch. With Celtic aiming to freshen up their attacking options, the timing could suit both parties.
Should Ferguson join Celtic, Rodgers would have three promising young Irish strikers competing for the central role in his side.
Celtic’s recruitment team face a crucial summer as they look to strengthen key areas for another go at domestic silverware. Ferguson’s availability presents an interesting option as the club continue to explore ways of improving the squad ahead of the new season.
