DAVIE PROVAN believes that Scott Brown should have stayed with Celtic last season instead of taking the player/coach position in the North East.
Stephen Glass offered the Celtic captain the chance to take on the challenge of a coaching role, but he was sacked after the Dons’ poor form. This left Brown in an awkward position, undoubtedly contributing to his decision to hang up his boots.

He now has a decision to make. Rumours surrounding the decorated player’s future are in full flow. He has reportedly been offered the chance to get some experience with Brendan Rodgers.
There are some suggestions that Celtic would offer their former captain a position within their youth setup. Some believe that Brown may follow suit with his former manager and head to Cyprus to be Neil Lennon’s right-hand man.
Speaking to the Go Radio Football Show, as quoted by Football Scotland, the former Celtic player said;
“I think he made a mistake leaving Celtic and it surprises me that they didn’t find a place for him – similar to Steven Gerrard at Liverpool, who started taking the younger teams as a coaching apprenticeship.
“I thought Scott Brown should have stayed at Celtic. Will he get into management? I’m not sure where he gets in.
“He doesn’t [have the qualifications], neither does he have the experience, whereas I think had he stayed at Celtic in the longer term he’d have had a better chance of getting a decent managerial job, either at Celtic eventually or somewhere else, after he had done his apprenticeship, if you like, with the youth team.”
Brown assessed his options. The offer to head north and continue his career on the pitch and start his coaching career appealed to him hence why he decided to pack his bags and head to Aberdeen.
