Ange Postecoglou is under mounting pressure at Tottenham Hotspur, and pundit Tam McManus believes the Australian now realises he made a mistake leaving Celtic.

Postecoglou’s situation at Spurs took another negative turn on Thursday night during their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The manager came under fire from sections of the away support for his tactical decisions, with fans booing his substitutions. When it appeared Tottenham had scored a late equaliser through Pape Matar Sarr, Postecoglou appeared to gesture to the crowd by cupping his ears—only for the goal to be chalked off after a six-minute VAR delay.
The former Celtic boss later denied it was a response to the criticism, insisting instead he was encouraging fans to find their voice and support the team, acknowledging they haven’t had much to cheer about lately. But the moment has sparked fresh scrutiny as Spurs’ season continues to unravel.
They are out of both domestic cups and adrift in the race for top half!. Only the Europa League remains as a realistic opportunity for silverware—anything short of that could bring Postecoglou’s tenure to a premature end.
Reacting to the incident, Tam McManus pulled no punches.
“Big man is screaming for the sack/pay off,” he said on X. “Couldn’t turn that contract down but joined the wrong club and think he knows that now.”
He added, “Ange will never have a bond with fans anywhere else like the one he had with the Celtic fans.”
It’s a sentiment shared by many in Glasgow, where Postecoglou is still held in high regard. His success at Celtic Park, dominating domestically and forging a strong connection with the support, stands in contrast to the growing unrest in North London.
