Hayes is the Hero – Celtic Within Touching Distance of Champions League

It was a stressful night for Celtic as the women’s side managed to get a 1-0 win over the line against Hibernian on Wednesday evening.

Fran Alonso and his team leapfrogged Rangers Women at the weekend when they pulled off a 2-1 win against their rivals, completing their very own whitewash.

It put Celtic’s destiny in their own hands heading into the final few games. The ghirls sit second in the table, in one of the two Champions League spots.

The game against Hibernian this evening was a must-win for the club as they look to qualify for Europe.

Caitlin Hayes was the hero when she headed home Celtic’s only goal of the game just before half time – heading it at the back post.

It was a nervy affair at times and Hibernian certainly had their moments. One thing we’ve learned about this Celtic side, they are good at seeing games out.

Thankfully they did and they remain second going into the final two fixtures.

Up next for the ladies is Forfar at home this Sunday – their final home game of the season.

There’s still an outside chance of the title with Glasgow City only three points better off. They handily dispatched of Hearts this evening after having their own scare.
