Has Popular Celtic Star Played His Last Game Under Neil Lennon?

Things move so fast in football but if you’re a Celtic fan you know more than most this season how quickly things can change.

At the start of this campaign, we had Brendan Rodgers and Moussa Dembele at the club – two huge men in the context of a double treble victory.

Time marches on and so do players and managers. With that being said it would have been unfathomable to think Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic would be holding court in the centre of defence back in December. The pair have come onto a game together at an important time in Celtic’s season when we have needed consistency. The Croatian has managed to stay injury free and Ajer just keeps getting better.

This has meant that even though Filip Benkovic is fit, he can’t get back into this Celtic side. Again, this is something unimaginable just a few short months ago.

Benkovic is still our best defender at the club, but his time at Celtic is almost up and rather than use the player while he’s here Neil Lennon seems to be trying to give his permanent stars more confidence. With just three SPFL games and a Scottish Cup Final left on the agenda – has Filip Benkovic played his last game for Celtic?

Unless Jozo or Ajer get injured then you would have to think the young Croatian’s Celtic career is coming to an anti-climactic end. However, his contribution can’t and shouldn’t be underestimated.
