Reports are gathering pace today that Celtic have made an enquiry about the availability of Hibs star John McGinn – with the club ready to use Scott Allan as a bargaining chip.

It has been documented for some time now that Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of the midfielder. However, when asked back last year about a possible deal, the Celtic manager believed the player had more improving to do at Hibs.

John now has a top flight season under his belt, helping Neil Lennon’s side to a fourth place finish after winning promotion the season prior.

Neil Lennon has spoken about some crazy numbers with regards to his top star, quoting as much as £5million – if Hibs stick to their guns then there might be very little to talk about.

Celtic will be hoping that Scott Allan going the other way as part of any deal will soften the price significantly do below the £3million mark.
