Former Celtic coach Harry Kewell has taken up the managerial reins at Yokohama F. Marinos, stepping into a role previously held by Ange Postecoglou, who brought Kewell to Celtic.

Kewell’s appointment marks the continuation of Australian leadership at the Japanese club, making him the third consecutive Australian manager to take charge.
Kewell’s managerial debut for Yokohama F. Marinos came in a challenging AFC Champions League last-16 encounter against Bangkok United on Wednesday.
Despite playing away from home and securing a two-goal lead early on in the match, Marinos were held to a 2-2 draw, with Bangkok United scoring a dramatic equaliser in the 92nd minute.

The draw sets the stage for a crucial second-leg match, with Yokohama F. Marinos hosting Bangkok United this time. Kewell’s side, which appeared to be the superior team during the encounter, will need to capitalise on their home advantage to secure progression to the next round of the competition.
