Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany has remained non-committal on whether Harry Kane will feature against Celtic on Tuesday night, after the striker suffered a facial injury in Saturday’s Bundesliga showdown with Bayer Leverkusen.
The league leaders faced the reigning champions and played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw, but the match came at a cost for Bayern, with Kane missing from training on Monday as he recovers from the knock.
Kompany’s Cryptic Update on Kane
Speaking ahead of the Champions League second leg against Celtic, Kompany confirmed that the injury is not serious but refused to give a clear answer on Kane’s availability.

“It’s nothing serious. We haven’t had much time for recovery and to get over the game. Tomorrow we will see how he feels, but it is nothing really bad, that is for sure. There hasn’t been much time to relax and to refresh.” He said as reported by Record Sport.
When pressed further on whether Kane would feature against Celtic, Kompany deliberately dodged giving a straight answer, joking about his own tactics in handling the media.
“Basically I blurred the lines. I threw up a smoke bomb! What I said was basically a smoke bomb. So I’ll keep blurring the lines and we’ll see tomorrow.”
What This Means for Celtic
If Celtic fans were hoping for a Harry Kane absence, Kompany’s words suggest that he still expects his star striker to play. Kane was a major threat in the first leg, scoring Bayern’s second goal at Celtic Park after being left unmarked at a corner.
While Celtic need at least one goal in Munich to stand any chance of progressing, keeping Kane off the scoresheet will be just as important. With Bayern already in control of the tie, his presence would only make Celtic’s task even tougher.
Even without Kane, they carry a massive attacking threat.
