The Montenegro star signed for Celtic in the summer from Rubin Kazan, a deal that was complicated to get over the line due to the circumstances Russian clubs now find themselves in due to the invasion of Ukraine.

The row pertains to Rubin not paying the full transfer fee for Sead to his former club Norrkoping. Rubin are claiming they can’t settle a fee due to the sanctions put on them by FIFA. The Swedish club could not get the issue resolved under FIFA rules and will now go to CAS, the court of arbitration for sport.
The 23-year-old’s Celtic deal will be unaffected by the fighting over previous payments, although he might be called as a witness if the case reaches the court.
Haksabanovic was missing from the Celtic squad against Aberdeen on Saturday after picking up a knock in training. The midfielder is just off the back of winning SPFL player of the month and has promised Celtic fans there’s more to come from him.
