Griffiths Could Save Celtic Ten Million – Sutton

Chris Sutton wrote quite a detailed assessment on Leigh Griffiths in his Record Sport column this morning. The ex-Celt was full of praise for what Griffiths has achieved over the past six months and what he feels needs to happen for the striker to be top Bhoy again.

As a striker, Sutton knows better than most the sharpened tools that Leigh has to bring with him into the forthcoming season.

“Playing up front it’s about that tiny edge, that little half-yard to open some space, that little dart of sharpness that gets you an opening. It’s tiny margins that can separate a 40-goal-a-year striker to a 10-goal-a-season man.”

Griffiths certainly looks like a player determined to climb back to the top of his game as he leaves a European pre-season camp with six goals in his pocket. Sutton feels if the Celtic striker can stay that sharp he could save Neil Lennon a spend of ten million pounds.

“That’s a mammoth difference and when it comes to the situation Lennon finds himself in as he assesses his squad it might be the difference between having to spend £10m or not.”

Celtic have not been linked with too many strikers so far in this transfer window but most fans would agree with Sutton’s comments. A fully fit Leigh Griffiths, Edouard and Bayo will be enough firepower for the Bhoys to secure their ninth title in a row.
