Green Brigade’s Brilliant Friday Night Statement

Celtic’s ultras have stepped in on the eve of Saturday’s Premiership match against Livingston, calling for unity in the stands while keeping pressure firmly on the board.

The Green Brigade, through their North Curve channel, released a Friday night message confirming a planned tifo display for the clash at Celtic Park. Fans in the North Curve have been asked to take part, with the group emphasising that while frustrations are justified, the focus on matchday should remain behind the players.

“While there is justifiable frustration across the support, we ask fans in the North Curve for their usual participation to help back the team both visually and vocally and direct any frustration at the Board,” the message read.

It comes in the wake of Wednesday night’s Champions League play-off stalemate against Kairat Almaty, when loud chants of “sack the board” rang around Celtic Park. Supporters have grown increasingly vocal over what they see as a lack of ambition in the transfer market, with a string of modest signings failing to inspire confidence despite a healthy financial position.

“back the team both visually and vocally”

The Green Brigade’s statement reflects the growing divide between Celtic’s hierarchy and its support. Fans are demanding investment and transparency from Peter Lawwell and Michael Nicholson, but there is also an acceptance among the ultras that the players on the park need full backing during games.

Saturday’s fixture against Livingston offers a chance for Brendan Rodgers’ side to shift the focus back onto results after a turbulent week. But the atmosphere in the stands is unlikely to be straightforward, with tifos and chants expected to carry a dual message: passionate support for the team, and pointed opposition towards the board.

With the clock ticking on the transfer window, the pressure on Celtic’s decision-makers shows no sign of easing. What is clear is that the Green Brigade are determined to channel fan anger in a way that keeps the players supported while making their discontent with the hierarchy impossible to ignore.
