Sunday’s Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park was played in a good atmosphere, but it lacked both the Green Brigade and Union Bears after they were denied entry.
The Green Brigade claim they were held up before kick-off and not allowed access, while SunSport reported that the Union Bears were marched away by police before the match despite gathering at the agreed-upon meeting point shortly after 10 a.m.
A SunSport journalist attempted to get clarity on the situation but was met with no explanation from Police Scotland as to why the groups were refused entry.
The Green Brigade were stopped on London Road as they approached the stadium. Images circulating on social media showed dozens of police officers and multiple vans forming a blockade around the group.

As a result, there was a visible gap in the North Curve section throughout the 90 minutes, an area usually occupied by the Green Brigade.
On the Rangers side, SunSport reported that the Union Bears were turned away by police before reaching the ground, despite following instructions to gather shortly after 10am. With a larger away allocation at Celtic Park for the first time since 2018, the expectation was for a lively Rangers support.
Neither Celtic nor Rangers have issued official statements regarding the incident, while Police Scotland have yet to provide clarity on why the groups were denied entry.
