Government Officials Set for Celtic Park Visit

FRENCH GOVERNMENT officials are set to visit Celtic Park to carry out a feasibility study into safe standing being introduced in French Football.

Celtic’s 2600 capacity safe standing section has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and leagues since it was introduced two seasons ago.

The area within Celtic Park has been a phenomenal success and helps generate a better atmosphere on matchdays.

France’s Sports Minister, Laura Flessel spoke about the issue.

She said: “A trial of safe standing could be launched next season, following a meeting with the National Supporters Association.

“This proposal should not allow the increase of the capacity of the selected stands and must comply with all regulatory safety standards.

“Such stands exist at Celtic Park in Glasgow and Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

Celtic invited a consortium of Liverpool fans to Parkhead in March who are also considering the possibility of introducing safe standing at Anfield.
