‘Good Business’ – John Hartson Urges Celtic to Sign Striker

Celtic are in the market for a striker this January. Kyogo Furuhashi has yet to hit the heights of last season, and Oh isn’t coming back from the Asian Cup any time soon.

Dutchman Sydney van Hooijdonk has been widely mentioned as a potential January arrival, but former Hoops hitman John Hartson has named the player he believes would be an ideal addition to the team this month.

That man is Bojan Miovski, and he has hugely impressed at Aberdeen this season. The North Macedionian has scored 17 goals across all competitions in 2023/24 so far.

He is proven in Scottish football, and the Hoops were linked with a move for him at the beginning of December. Nothing has been reported since then, but Hartson is eager for a deal to transpire.

The Welshman outlined the fee he believes the Hoops would have to pay for Miovski, and it is well within their reach. He said (Sunday Post via Football Scotland): “Personally, I’d have him in the bracket between £3.5m and £4m. That would be good business.”

As time ticks away before the end of the January transfer window, any move for Miovski from Celtic seems continually unlikely. That hasn’t stopped Hartson from stating how he thinks he’d excel in Glasgow: “I’ve seen Bojan Miovski a few times and I really like the look of him”, he said.

“I think he’d do well at Celtic. He has been a regular goalscorer for Aberdeen and knows what it takes at this level and for his country, (North) Macedonia.

“Bojan has a nice first touch, holds the ball up well and brings others into play. He also powers towards goal when the time is right and causes defenders all sorts of problems.”
