Glasgow City Council Set to Green Light £100k Celtic Proposal

CELTIC are set to pay for a piece of land outside Celtic Park to the tune of £100k according to reports.

The club have approached Glasgow City Council about obtaining the land outside Celtic Park and according to Glasgow Live, the council are set to give the purchase the green light.

The proposal reads: ‘The proposed purchaser is seeking to acquire the land to create dedicated disabled car parking,” a report to councillors reveals.

“The football club’s disabled section is located in the north west corner of the stadium. “The entrance to this section lies adjacent to the site.”

Celtic’s attempt to make it easier for disabled supporters to get too and from the ground should be commended. In recent years they introduced a new section for disabled fans in the Jock Stein stand and also have a focal point of contact for dealing with issues that arise with disabled fans.

The club had a short lease on the ground in previous years but this would allow Celtic to plan properly and facilitate supporters in a big way.

The terms of the sale mean it will not be permissible for any other type of use unless Celtic give prior written consent and it’s approved.
