Signed from Swedish top-flight side Elfsborg in the summer for £3 million, Gustaf Lagerbielke was once more not included in Celtic’s matchday squad on Sunday.
Despite starting for his country and scoring over the international break, Lagerbielke was dropped completely from Brendan Rodgers’ team for the second time in a row at Tynecastle. Such a transpiration doesn’t spell well for the defender.

In addition, several players are currently ahead of him in the centre-back pecking order at Parkhead. As well as this, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh are still to return from injury.
When he came to Glasgow, many expected the 23-year-old to be the Bhoys’ third-choice central defender. Liam Scales’ rise to form combined with the loan signing of Nat Phillips, though, has caused him to fall well down the ranks.
For two games in a row now, Lagerbielke has not made the matchday squad, which makes one wonder if he eventually will set it alight in Glasgow, or if his signing is a doomed one.
