Giakoumakis Celtic Transfer Preference

GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS has been linked with a move to Japan in recent days, with some reports suggesting that talks were pretty advanced.

However, the Greek striker would prefer to remain in Europe and would only consider a move to another continent, like Asia, if he received a substantial salary, journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos reports.

There are many clubs interested in him, from Europe and further afield, like Japan and America.

You can understand his desire to remain in Europe, where the quality of football is perceived to be better. He’s still got a good few years of playing left in him; he may eye a move to another continent when he’s in the twilight of his career, as many players do.

As the days pass by, it looks increasingly unlikely that he’ll see out the season with Celtic after contract negotiations broke down in December.

Celtic will shift their attention to finding a replacement for the player, with Kyogo the only other natural striker at the club.
