Gheorghe Hagi Responds to Celtic Rumour

Late last night a story broke that Celtic had held discussions with Gheorghe Hagi about becoming the next Celtic manager. A lot of blogs and main stream sites decided to run with the story, citing a very flimsy report from playsport in Hagi’s home country.

We always want to keep you up to date with news and rumours but this one was clearly false from the start.

We were vindicated in not reporting the story when the man himself came out and rubbished the claims very quickly to quash the rumour.

He told prosport.ro: “Following the articles published in all the sports press in Romania, regarding the alleged discussions with Celtic I specify that they do not exist, they are completely false speculations, without having any real basis.”

Someone was just looking for a headline and they found one with Hagi. Considering his son plays for Rangers, it made for an easy story.

Thankfully Gheorghe has put this to bed very quickly.

Neil Lennon is still the Celtic manager and it appears it’s going to stay that way. Celtic are nineteen points behind in the league and could go 22 points behind before they play next. That could have been avoided if they didn’t decide to go to Dubai.
