Brendan Rodgers has reacted to Celtic’s 0-0 draw at Ibrox with a clear message ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline, he team still needs signings, and time is running out.
With the window closing soon, Rodgers stressed the need for more competition to lift a side that’s struggled in the final third.
A number of players, like Daizen Maeda, have had little pressure on their place in recent seasons. Rodgers feels that fresh faces could bring energy and help drive up standards.
Rodgers spoke about the transfer window, the draw at Ibrox, and what he hopes happens next.
He said: (Clyde 1 Superscoreboard), “We’ve had a period of time—a long time—to reinforce the squad and, listen, I’m hopeful that we can do that. Get it over the line. Otherwise, the game is about the quality of your players.
“You can take the game to different levels based on your players. But still, it’s my responsibility to try and maximise what I can get out of the players who will be here.
“Hopefully, we can get that competition into the team and reinvigorate some of the players who have been here for a long time.
“Like you say, they’ve been here for four years—like Daizen and the others. They need competition.”
Rodgers’ words show just how important the final day of the transfer window is for Celtic. He’s focused on getting the best from his players, but Sunday’s lack of goal threat has made it clear that changes are needed.
With Adam Idah close to joining Swansea and talks ongoing for Kasper Dolberg, Celtic’s attack could look very different by tomorrow night. Rodgers is hoping these deals go through because the current team needs fresh energy.

The Irishman also suggested that some players haven’t had enough competition. He believes bringing in new faces will help raise standards across the pitch.
As the deadline nears, the pressure is now on the Celtic board to back Rodgers. He isn’t just looking for depth, he wants signings who will improve the team straight away.
