In the midst of the swirling rumours surrounding Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, veteran pundit Hugh Keevins has offered his perspective on the situation.
Keevins suggests that the clamour among Rangers fans to see Postecoglou leave Celtic this summer is less of a vote of confidence in their own manager, Michael Beale, and more of an admission that Beale’s chances of success would improve if Postecoglou were to depart.
Keevins, in his Daily Record column, wrote, “For some, this possibility equates with the guarantee of a shift in the balance of power at the top of the Premiership. Mainly those who believe that Rangers manager Michael Beale will be the beneficiary of his Celtic counterpart leaving town. Not so much a vote of confidence in Beale as an admission his prospects of success would be enhanced if Ange would simply go away.”

We have faith in the strength and resilience of our team, regardless of the managerial situation. The bhoys will be focused on the Scottish cup final and Ange will be looking to make history.
Despite that, Keevins further highlighted the need for clarity amidst the speculation. He noted that Postecoglou could have dispelled the rumours at Friday’s press conference but chose not to. However, this does not necessarily mean that he is being evasive or withholding information. It could simply be that he is waiting for a concrete offer or that the interest in him has been overstated.
“Either way, he’s not being held hostage at Celtic Park and handcuffed to a radiator in between matches. He’s a free man able to exercise free will if anything concrete in nature should come up. In the meantime, the cup final now has to become a major source of distraction – and that’s the way it should be under the circumstances,” Keevins added.
As Celtic supporters, we understand the nature of football and the constant speculation that comes with it. Our focus remains on supporting the team and cheering them on in the upcoming Scottish Cup final. We believe in our team’s ability to rise above the noise and deliver a performance.
if Celtic can beat Inverness on Saturday, they will land a world record breaking eighth treble in their history.
