Gerrard’s Harsh Reality as Oli Burke Serves as Great Reminder

There has been a lot made of the transfer activity of Glasgow’s first and SECOND placed clubs during the past week. The loan signing of Jermaine Defoe has sent all kinds of whispers and screams into any receptive eardrums.

No doubt Defoe will be a good addition to any squad in Scotland. When you look at the rest of the players linked with the second team in Glasgow you wonder how much experience is their latest manager after.

It wasn’t until listening to young Oliver Burke speaking with Celtic TV was we reminded what Brendan Rodgers can do for young players. The new loan signing gave Brendan Rodgers ability with a young players development as a key reason to come to Celtic. Burke only has to look at Dembele, Edouard, Armstrong, Ajer, and Tierney as perfect examples of what Brendan Rodgers can do for your career. Then you have James Forrest, Tom Rogic and Scott Brown who have played their best football in the last 2/3 seasons. Ryan Christie, Anthony Ralston, and Mikey Johnston all look like players who can benefit from that magic Rodgers touch this season.

When you look at Gerrard’s signings he is bringing in players who are coming to the ends of their careers. Its a fine balance buying players with potential or experience. The reality is the Ibrox management don’t have any experience or track record of developing players like Dembele. Rodgers has a team of players that will be around for the next 5/6 years
