German Club Make Move for Celtic Target

KO ITAKURA won’t be joining Celtic this summer, with the Japanese defender set to sign a long-term deal with Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach. [Daily Mail]

Celtic was said to be interested in the defender, who spent last season on loan at Schalke in the second tier of German football.

It’s clear that Celtic are keen to bring more defenders to the club to provide quality backup for the players already there and push the partnership of Starfelt and Carter-Vickers.

Celtic were also linked with Manchester City teammate Taylor Harwood-Bellis. However, he’s likely to join Burnely as Vincent Kompany looks to raid his former club.

It’s a great opportunity Ko has been presented with, but he won’t be playing Champions League football this season, with Monchengladbach finishing tenth last term.

Despite what some outlets may report, the defender who represented his country at the Olympics last year hasn’t snubbed Celtic, as there are no reports of our interest leading to an approach.
