Hibernian left-back Josh Doig has today picked up the Scottish Football Writer’s player of the year award after an impressive first campaign.
The 18-year has become a consistent performer for the Edinburgh side which has led him to be linked to the likes of Celtic who will have likely been keeping my an eye on his progress this season.
To win the award, Doig also beat off several candidates including Aberdeen’ Lewis Ferguson, Rangers Nathan Paterson and Celtic own David Turnbull.

We at Celtsarehere, have written on a few occasions about Doig as a player and our thoughts on him going forward.
Of course, as an 18-year old he still has a lot of development to do as a player but after such an impressive first campaign in the Hibs side, becoming a consistent performer on a regular basis, he looks like an extremely talented player for the future.
With Celtic’s current left-back situation, it may not be a surprise to see the Hoops try and make an early move for the youngster. To me, it certainly wouldn’t seem like a bad idea.
Any move for a player like Doig could be badly damaged by the club’s inability to name our next manager.
